6th MASONIC DISTRICT SCHEDULE

The Traveling Gavel: The purpose of the Gavel is to encourage Brethren to visit other Lodges in within the district. A Lodge may claim the Gavel by sending five or more Brothers to visit any meeting of the Lodge holding it.
The Traveling Gavel is again on the move as it was won at a well-attended Stated Communication of Unity Lodge. Five Lodges showed up at the meeting and filled the Lodge room. It ended up in a tie with Carroll and Winnipesaukee each having seven members present. As soon as the tie was announced Winnipesaukee Lodge stood up and in a fine example of Masonry conceded the Gavel to Carroll Lodge. This was not the first time Winnipesaukee Lodge has shown us what the spirit of Masonry is about by deferring to another Lodge.
** The Traveling Gavel is now at Carroll Lodge in Freedom. Their next Stated Communication will be held on Thursday March 22nd, 2012. I hope your Lodge will consider getting a group of members together and pay a visit to Unity Lodge and pick up the Traveling Gavel for your next Lodge meeting.
